Eclectic evangelists, πολυσυζητημένοι djs / bloggers και υποδειγματικοί label owners,το πιο επιδραστικό δίδυμο του Παρισιού έρχεται το Σάββατο 10 Ιανουαρίου στην Αθήνα για ένα μοναδικό DIRTY set.
Oι Γάλλοι Guillaume Sorge και Glovis Goux (aka DIRTY SOUND SYSTEM) είναι οι πρώτοι καλεσμένοι του DISCO POGO για το 2009 και το Σάββατο 10 Ιανουαρίου θα διαλέγουν τους σωστούς και άκρως εκλεκτικούς δίσκους για το πρώτο -not to miss- party της νέας χρονιάς.
Υπεύθυνοι για την μαζική επιτυχία του “Begin’ “, δημιουργοί της πρόσφατης εμμονής των ψαγμένων djs με τα re -edits κλασσικών κομματιών και προτωπόροι της nu disco τάσης των Αγγλογαλλικών dancefloors, οι δύο Παριζιάνοι θα μπορούσαν άνετα να παινεύονται ότι κινούν τα νήματα και δημιουργούν τις μουσικές μόδες της Ευρώπης μέσα απο το blog τους, το label τους και τα party τους.
Το σχέδιο τους είναι απλό μεν, άψογα οργανωμένο δε:
Το label DIRTY, κυκλοφορεί κάθε 3 περίπου μήνες σε 1000 αριθμημένα 12ιντσα βινύλια. Πρόκειται για re edits παραγωγών όπως οι Pilooski, Joakim σε ψαγμένα διαμάντια του παρελθόντος που έχουν ξεθάψει ύστερα απο ατελείωτες ώρες ακροάσεων οι DIRTY SOUND SYSTEM. Σύνηθως με την συμπλήρωση ενός χρόνου, κυκλοφορούν πάλι σε αριθμημένα 2000 cds, μια συλλογή με αυτά τα 12ιντσα για όσους δεν πρόλαβαν τα βινύλια. Όλα τα Dirty Edits πωλούνται μόνο on line ή απο επιλεγμένα καταστήματα όπως η Collette στο Παρίσι και το Rough Trade στο Λονδίνο.
To blog ALAIN FINKIELKRAUTROCK, είναι το μέσο που οι δύο δημοσιογράφοι επέλεξαν για να επικοινωνούν με το κοινό. Μοιράζονται τις μουσικές τους προτιμήσεις και τα κολλήματά τους για βιβλία και z movies. Σύντομα, η επιρροή που ασκούσε το blog στους προχωρημένους μουσικά κύκλους, έφερε δίπλα τους συνεργάτες / φίλους όπως οι Cosmo Vitelli, Pilooski, Μidnight Mike και τον Mike Sιmmonetti, αφεντικό του εξαιρετικού Νεουορκέζικου label, “Ιtalians Do It Better”. Τα DIRTY parties, στο Social club του Παρισιού, είναι το απόλυτο must στην νυχτερινή ζωή της πόλης. Εκλεκτοί guest djs σπινάρουν ότι πιο φρέσκο δίπλα στους δύο residents και τον καλό τους φίλο Pilooski. Aν και δεν θέλουν να λέγονται επαγγελματίες djs, οι DIRTY SOUND SYSTEM εκεί έμαθαν να διαβάζουν και να χορεύουν τον κόσμο, παίζοντας σπάνια grooves που οι περισσότεροι djs θα σκότωναν για να βρούν. Το αποτέλεσμα είναι να θεωρούνται περιζήτητοι στα πιο hot clubs του κόσμου. Aπο την Ιαπωνία και το Miami ως την Kωνσταντινούπολη και σε λίγες μέρες την Αθήνα, everybody deserves a bit of DIRTY treatment.

1. Explain to someone who’s not familiar with Dirty, what is the Dirty universe?
we are a french collective involved in various musical projects, i think the best way to understand

2. How helpful has been the fact that you live and base your Dirty project in Paris? How do you find Parisian culture on the last two decades ?What’s cool in Parisian and French music and art circles lately?
the last two decades saw the rise of the electronic music scene but we’re not sure this will last long as things seem
to come and go much more quickly than before. Apart from the well three well known start ups called kitsuné / ed banger / institubes,
there are a lot of cool artists like breakbot, danton eeprom, tim paris, discodeine, koko von napoo etc.. Outside of music we appreciate works by people like michel houellebecq, tatiana trouvé, edouard levé, simon liberati, laurent fétis…
3. Before Dirty Edits you did a compilation series called Dirty Diamonds, that you stopped. Which was the reason and is there any chance to have other compilation than Dirt Edits from your Sound System?
we stopped the dirty diamonds serie because we felt being at the end of the “eclectic comp” thing so we wanted to focus on thematical selections (dirty space disco). our next project (dirty french psychedelics) will be out this spring.
4. AlainFinkielkrautrock seems to has a whole philosophy of way of living behind it. Which cultural era has influenced the basic lines of the blog in terms of music, books, art and cinema?
AF is just a bunch of friends posting online tracks and movies extracts that they like… there’s no particular cultural era or
philosophy behind, it’s just sharing stuff that we like, the only difference is that we share it with 1500 people instead
of a few friends ! as many musical blogs focus on new music we try to cover selected new music as well as
old stuff…
5. You have said that you prefer entertaining people while you’re playing records and they enjoying their drinks, rather than, “teaching them some music”, but still, your blog, your releases and the other activities of yours are full of eclectisism. How difficult it is for someone to balance?
to be honest we don’t really care about that, we just play records that we feel like playing at the moment without thinking too much… much of the music we listen to at home is quite unplayable in a club party though…..
6. Et pour en finir avec beggin’, did you ever had the fear after the whole success that everything you choose and release might become a hit?
these things always happen by accident. this version of beggin’ was a second choice as the version we prefer (timebox) had already been released on a compilation… to say the least, finding hits is not our primary concern !
7. What is “Dirty French Psychedelics” and what amounts of music do you listen in a daily basis and where from?
dirty french psychedelics is a collection of french psychedelic pop from the seventies… a compilation that basically
might sound like Air’s musical roots (as we see it…). the music we listen everyday come from second hand vinyls, blogs, promos
sent by labels….
8. Are you still having you day jobs or are you full time into Dirty activities? Is running Dirty something that you always wanted you to do and how do you feel about the fact that you doing all this great things now that you are over 30?
we don’t earn money directly with dirty, i am a sound designer and clovis is a music journalist… we have a common
goal : to be as independent as possible and never go back to any kind of coporate office activity…. personnaly i think i was doing exactly the same thing ten years ago, but the comp were for my friends only.
9. Which are the qualifications that an artist should have in order to enter the Dirty roster and which are you relationships with other labels such as Tigersushi and Kill The Dj?
the only thing is to release music that excite us… tigersushi and kill the dj are the two french labels
we feel the closer musically… and they’re close friends too.
10. What do you enjoy most when you’re djing abroad and what should we expect from your set in Athens?
we’d love to discover greek food and street riots. expect unobvious music to get mad to.
